Eve of Destruction is not merely words or music it is and was one of the best of the protest songs of the 60s. But what no one could actually foresee is that the words would mirror the way the world will be for the rest of human existence. Leaving words out that refer to the age of voting, it still refers in a big way to the fact that the future is scary. I love this song. And the video that was added to this song is very pointed, very much on the spot about the state of the world. What is apparent is that we will always be 'on the eve of destruction.' Or as one person pointed out... using war to get peace is like 'screwing for virginity.' Makes no sense and yet we continue as nations to do this. What is even scarier is that the mentality of the people of all nations continues to a 'sheep' mentality. Will we ever get past this 'eve of destruction?' I wish I knew the answer to that.
